Chico, California – LearningChange is excited to launch the GABY 2.0 program Web site. GABY 2.0 is a community dedicated to the youth-lead philanthropic movement. As part of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, GABY helps to support young people in developing knowledge and participating in philanthropic efforts — the importance of giving and sharing and taking action on issues that are important to them within their community.
To further support these efforts, GABY 2.0 was developed to stimulate youth-led community action by providing a web-based platform to learn about and explore the philanthropic interests of teens.
“The response from both youth and adults has been very positive, ranging from “awesome” from the youth to “great resource” from the head of the service learning environmental education network.” Ruth Blank, CEO Sacramento Region Community Foundation.
LearningChange Instructional Designer Laura Moreno and Sacramento Region Community Foundation Program Officer Yumi Sera worked together to develop an online line community that is not only informative but captured the attention of maintained the interest of our young audience. Through video, interactive games and first hand accounts from other young philanthropists teams of youth can compete for small grants to support environmental activities for their schools, communities, and neighborhoods.

“You have helped our foundation to take GABY to a new level with this innovative tool to promote philanthropy in the region and hopefully beyond.” Ruth Blank, CEO Sacramento Community Foundation.
Once a year, GABY provides $50 to $500 grants for youth-led projects in Sacramento and Yolo County that focus on the environment.
“Even though we all come from different backgrounds and we all have different beliefs, we all strive for the same common goal. We all want to help each other out and we all realize that it is up to us... today's youth.” Zach, former GABY member.
