Bemidji, Minnesota—April 2008. On the one-year anniversary of Ready or Not Writing, a portal designed by LearningChange for Minnesota State Colleges & Universities, we are happy to report the success of the program.
The portal was created for high school students in rural Minnesota to submit essays and receive assessment on their writing abilities. The goal of the portal is to determine secondary student writing preparedness for entering post-secondary education, and to suggest manners of refining student skills.
Successful implementation of the portal saw usage by 450 high school students in first year, with structured, facilitated assessment managed smoothly through the custom Web-based writing center. Strongly positive user feedback, accompanied by professional accolades received by sponsoring professor and university for a thoughtful, well-executed and usable system development.
“The Ready or Not Writing Program website is much more than I had envisioned it would be. Without LearningChange’s help, expertise, and talent, none of this would be possible. Thanks for being so willing and ready to help out! That kind of service and support is very, very rare,” said Paul Carney, Ready or Not Writing Program Coordinator.
